Question by Lizzy: How does a sex addict overcome the urges?

My boyfriend is a sex addict due to a childhood experience. He is not big on religion and going to therapy either. He is aware of his problem and has been faithful to me, but he does not know how to overcome the urges, thoughts or fantasies about always wanting to have sex with other people. This causes him to have drastic mood swings and allows him to not be happy in life. How does he overcome those thoughts and is it possible to do it without therapy?

if he told you it was 'due to a childhood experience', and you bought that, then... nah, nevermind.

people can choose to act in anyway they choose to act. and they always do.
